The Game Awards 2025 Achieves Record-Breaking Viewership, Beating Super Bowl 59

The confetti has settled over The Game Awards 2025, as all of the award winners and announcements have been revealed. As it turns out, the show itself has officially broken its own record and is also reportedly the one of the most-watched live stream events of 2025.

In a statement from The Game Awards, representatives of the annual event have confirmed that The Game Awards 2025 got over 171 million global livestreams, breaking its own record and achieving an 11 percent increase in viewers from the 2024 show. This number does not factor in Amazon Prime Video viewers, which was a new broadcast platform this year.

For comparison, Super Bowl 59 back in February was reported to have gotten around 127 million viewers, making it the most-watched telecast and Super Bowl game in history.

The show was streamed on X, Twitch, YouTube, Steam, TikTok Live, and several other places.

Voting in The Game Awards and for the Players' Voice award also increased by over 10 percent from 2024 to around 123 million votes cast.

The Game Awards has seen consistent growth since its inception in 2014 and has become one of the biggest annual entertainment events.

At the show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive was the big winner, taking home nine awards, including Game of the Year, which also saw praise and congratulations from the French president.

Evanescence was also in attendance and performed Afterlife from the hit Netflix adaptation of Devil May Cry, which led into a confirmation and release date for season two of the show.

The Game Awards 2026 will take place in December next year.
