Every year, REI releases the new Magma lineup, generally improving insulation mapping and using the latest tech materials, and this year is no different. It features 100% recycled ripstop nylon with a DWR-treated finish that’s crucially PFA-free and makes rain and water easily bead off. It somehow packs 850-fill-power goose down into a more streamlined look, giving you a tremendous warmth-to-weight ratio. Even the down itself is water-resistant, so if you do get caught in inclement weather, you’ll have a jacket that continues to keep you warm and insulated.
This version is one of the brand’s lightest yet, weighing just 11 ounces. Despite that, it's still ultra-warm, and that's thanks to the baffles.
