Legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley's family has described the magnitude of his death as being of "epic proportions" in their first statement.

The statement confirmed the rocker's death at the age of 74. Frehley leaves behind a wife, child, and other family members, although he and his wife, Jeanette, were estranged over the years, according to US Weekly. In fact, for years, he had another girlfriend named Lara Cove, but they broke up.

  • Frehley died after complications from a fall on October 16, TMZ reported.
  • "We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth," the family's statement, given to People, read.
  • "We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!" it continued.

Who Was Ace Frehley's Family? Did He Have a Wife & Kids?

According to People, Frehley had one child, and he married only one woman. Her name is Jeanette Trerotola. He also is survived by a number of extended family members.

"Frehley is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughter Monique, brother Charles, sister Nancy Salvner, and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members," People reported. Monique is his daughter with Jeanette.

Frehley's Facebook page also posted a statement about his death. It lists his family in greater detail.

"Ace Frehley, GRAMMY Award nominated and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted rock guitarist; and iconic founding member of KISS, died today at age 74. Frehley passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey, following a recent fall at his home," the post says.

"Frehley is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughter Monique, brother Charles, sister Nancy Salvner, nieces Suncere Frehley and Julie Salvner, nephews Sky Frehley and Andrew Salvner, sister-in-law Michelanne and brother-in-law Ron Salvner," it adds.

Frehley revealed on his Instagram page in September that he had suffered what was then called a "minor fall." However, TMZ reported on October 16 that he was in the hospital on life support with a brain bleed and wasn't improving. The family then faced the painful decision to take him off life support, TMZ added, and he passed away.

Ace Frehley Posted Photos Showing His Daughter Monique Frehley

Over the years, Frehley highlighted his close relationship with Monique on his social media pages. She was his only kid.

Ace Frehley posted a photo with Monique to his Instagram page. "Got matching 'Ace' tattoos with my daughter Monique back on tour in 2023! Family ink, rock 'n' roll style! Thinkin' about getting another. ????❤️" he wrote in 2025.

Ace Frehley also posted a photo collage of Monique to his Facebook page.

"Me & My Lovely Daughter Monique hanging out over the years! Lots of Fun!!!" he wrote. The photos showed him with Monique throughout the years, including when she was a young child.

A fan wrote on that 2024 post, "She is beautiful, and I know you are proud! But it’s awesome for her to get to say, 'Yeah my dad is Ace Frehley.'"

Ace Frehley Married Only Wife Jeanette Trerotola in 1978 & KISS Took the Stage, Reports Say

According to US Weekly, Ace Frehley and Jeanette Trerotola married in 1978 in New York City. KISS performed “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “Shout It Out Loud” at the wedding reception, according to US Weekly. But they ditched their "signature makeup," the site reports.

US Weekly reported that Frehley's father-in-law felt the band was getting too much attention at the wedding reception.

The marriage wasn't made to last, however. According to US Weekly, Frehley wrote about the split with Jeanette in his book, alleging that she decided to "move on."

According to USA Today, Frehley was born Paul Daniel Frehley in the Bronx in 1971.

He "started playing guitar at 13 after receiving the instrument as a Christmas present," the news site wrote, adding that he was influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy.

Ace Frehley Did Have Another Girlfriend, Lara Cove, But They Broke Up, Reports Say

After splitting with his wife, Jeanette, Frehley did have another publicly known girlfriend named Lara Cove.

He told the audience at a concert in 2024 that they had broken up, however.

"I broke up with my ex, Lara. Sorry. She's gone. I still care about her. Wonderful girl, beautiful girl. We decided to part our own ways, and she's happy, I'm happy," he told the crowd, according to Blabbermouth. "It was just time. Things go south, right? Three out of four marriages end after five years in this country, statistically. I don't wanna be a bearer of bad news, but that's reality."

That site referred to Cove as Frehley's fiancée, indicating they were together for six years. Cove has posted photos showing her with Frehley on her Facebook page, which says she is an elementary school teacher and artist.

"Throwback Thursday circa 2021…One thing is for certain, not many people can say they’ve been to an alpaca farm with Ace Frehley," she wrote in December 2024.
