D'Angelo's Daughter Imani Archer Posts Moving Photo After His Death

The R&B singer, D'Angelo, who has died of pancreatic cancer, leaves behind three kids.

One of his kids is daughter Imani Archer. She posted a moving photo tribute to her dad on October 14 as news of his death broke.

  • The photo, which Archer posted to her Instagram story, shows her sitting with her dad on a sofa as he plays the guitar. She let the photo speak for itself, making no comment with it.
  • Imani Archer's Instagram page says she is also a musician. Her Linktree includes a Spotify channel.
  • Her Instagram page is filled with glamorous photos and also pictures of her singing.

D'Angelo Also Has 2 Sons, Morocco & Michael Archer, Jr.

In addition to Imani, D'Angelo was survived by his two sons, including one who is a recording artist and who is the son born out of his relationship with the late R&B artist, Angie Stone.

His sons are named Morocco and Michael Archer Jr. Michael is his son with Stone.

A source told Peoplethat Archer Jr. was with his dad at the hospital, and has been going through "a lot," because he has lost both of his parents in the span of a year. Stone died in a car crash last spring in Alabama.

"People are really worried about Mike right now," the source told People of the 17-year-old Archer, who is also a singer.

The source told the magazine that Mike Jr. has "been through a lot in such a short amount of time."

Archer Jr. released a statement, according to Variety. “I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers during these very difficult times, as it has been a very rough and sad year for me. I ask that you please continue to keep me in your thoughts as it will not be easy, but one thing that both my parents thought me was to be strong, and I intend to do just that," it says.

According to People, D'Angelo had been dealing with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis for months and was recently in hospice care. The R&B legend's real name was Michael Eugene Archer.

D'Angelo's Family Also Released a Statement in His Memory

D'Angelo's family also released a statement after news of his death emerged. In it, they wrote that they were thankful for his music but saddened by his death.

“The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life…After a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to announce that Michael D’Angelo Archer, known to his fans around the world as D’Angelo, has been called home, departing this life today, October 14th, 2025," the family told Varietyin the statement.

"We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind.  We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world.”
