Delta Air Lines is Making an Epic New Move
With the peak holiday travel season on the way, Delta Air Lines is making a bunch of announcements and changes and shaping up their routes for the months to come. They're also making plans beyond the 2025-26 holiday season to have new routes and offerings for years to come.
Delta Air Lines is one of the bigget airlines in the United States. According to the airline, Delta helps 200 million travelers get to more than 350 destinations each year. That's a lot of people. "We remain committed to ensuring that the future of travel is connected, personalized and enjoyable," the company states on their official website.
This year has been a mixed bag for travel, with international travel to the United States down. The Associated Press reports that "the World Travel & Tourism Council projected ahead of Memorial Day that the U.S. would be the only country among the 184 it studied where foreign visitor spending would fall in 2025."
But, when it comes to Americans wanting to travel overseas, that's a different story. Now, Delta Air Lines is making it easier for people from the U.S. to fly to one special overseas destination and for them to come here.
Delta Air Lines Launches New Route
Delta has announced its first-ever nonstop flight from New York-JFK to Porto, Portugal. The route still start May 21, 2026. The new route is part of Delta’s largest-ever trans-Atlantic schedule, featuring seven brand-new European routes next summer, according to the company.
"Delta's new nonstop service from JFK to Porto is part of seven new European routes launching next summer, giving customers even more opportunities to experience Europe and enjoy our award-winning service and premium onboard experience," Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning at Delta, said in a statement. "Whether discovering Portugal or traveling to our other new destinations such as Sardinia and Malta, these additions expand choice for our customers and reinforce JFK's role as a leading global gateway."
According to Delta, travelers to Porto will depart from Delta Air Lines' hub at New York’s JFK Airport, where the airline operates more than 200 peak-day departures to more than 100 destinations.
