The 2025 MLB Playoff Field Is Officially Set

After a thrilling final Sunday of games, which decided the final playoff spot in the National League and seeding throughout the American League, the 2025 MLB Playoffs are officially locked in.

The Cincinnati Reds were the final team in the field. Manager Terry Francona's squad lost 4-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday, but still snagged the last NL Wild Card thanks to the New York Mets losing to the Miami Marlins.

Meanwhile, with their blowout win over the Tampa Bay Rays, the Toronto Blue Jays locked up the AL East and the No. 1 seed in the AL, giving them not just a first-round bye but homefield advantage throughout the entire postseason.

The Cleveland Guardians won their regular season finale, but had already clinched the AL Central because the Detroit Tigers lost to the Boston Red Sox.

Their reward for completing the most improbable comeback to win a division in MLB history will be a date with that Tigers team in the AL Wild Card series.

Who is in the 2025 MLB Playoffs?

The official bracket for the 2025 MLB Playoffs looks like this:

American League

• No. 1 seed Toronto Blue Jays, AL East champs
• No. 2 seed Seattle Mariners, AL West champs
• No. 3 seed Cleveland Guardians, AL Central champs
• No. 4 seed New York Yankees, No. 1 Wild Card
• No. 5 seed Boston Red Sox, No. 2 Wild Card
• No. 6 seed Detroit Tigers, No. 3 Wild Card

The top two seeds will advance directly to the AL Division Series. The Guardians host the Tigers and the Yankees host the Red Sox in best-of-3 Wild Card series this week.

National League

When will the 2025 MLB Playoffs begin?

The best-of-3 Wild Card series will take place Tuesday, Sept. 30 through Thursday, Oct. 2.

Division series play in both leagues will open Saturday, Oct. 4 and run through Saturday, Oct. 10. The American League Championship Series gets underway Oct. 12, with the NLCS opening on Oct. 13.

Finally, the World Series opens play Friday, Oct. 24 and runs through Saturday, Nov. 1, if necessary.
