Buying my first boat, looking for some advice!

0 6
Hey y'alls!

I have the opportunity to purchase an NRS Star Outlaw 15' raft from my river boss last year. I am still a rookie but have learned quite a few of the ropes, and this year I'm mostly attracted to the freedom of private boating.

I'm wondering if anyone is willing to lend advice on whether this is a good deal for my first boat (it seems like a good deal but like I said, I'm new).

The boat is custom made 15' (a foot longer than normal production) with 4 thwarts, which are removable and you can rearrange them. It was produced in 2019 and used for one commercial season (last summer). Minimal wear and no tear, plus it's been properly bled and kept out of the sun when in storage. He wants around $1600 for the boat, and can sell me other gear on the cheap as well. It's a big boat, probably larger than ideal for the technical rivers in western Washington, but it can carry a lot of people for some fun casual float days. Any thoughts, opinions, or suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks much!
