Upcoming events for the end of 2018 and 2019…

Ø  December 24 – Christmas Eve Paddle – venue TBC

Ø  12-13 January - Peer Paddling, Tees, N Wales, Yorkshire, details to follow nearer the time. – we are waiting to see where there is water before deciding where to go, which will happen in the week preceeding the event.

Several people have asked what peer paddling is and who can go. We created this definition several years ago… ‘Peer paddling

1.1.    You will often see the term ‘peer paddling’ used in relation to club trips or non-Packers trips organised by club members. What does this mean?

1.2.    Peer paddling means that there will be no formal coaching and that you should expect to not only be able to look after yourself but be a ‘useful’ member of the group; e.g. help out with rescues, etc. There are no hard and fast rules and clearly much will depend on the nature of the trip.   

1.3.    If you are in any doubt about whether a particular trip is suitable for you please talk to the trip organiser. 

1.4.    It is up to the trip organiser whether a person can take part in a ‘peer paddling’ trip.

1.5.    ‘Peer paddling’ trips usually involve Packers members but are not necessarily a ‘Packers’ trip and are often by invitation only – this being due to the nature of the water being paddled, the skill level required of the paddlers and at the behest of the trip organiser.’

Ø  Wednesday 19 June – Midsummer Paddle and BBQ

Ø  Sunday 23 June – Safety Cover – Keen as Mustard, Box End, Bedford

Ø  Sunday 14 July – Safety Cover – Keen as Mustard, Grafham Water – TBC

Ø  20 July to 28 July – Allier River, South of France – club trip

Ø  Sunday 18 August – –Safety Cover - Monster Racing, Ely

Ø  Saturday 31 August to Sunday 1st September – River Tryweryn, North Wales – Club Trip

Ø  Sunday 15 September – Safety Cover – Keen as Mustard, Oundle / Thrapston – TBC

Ø  Sunday 29 September – Safety Cover – Keen as Mustard, Holywell / Fen Drayton – TBC

 

Ø  Other events still to go on the calendar…

o   Club weekend at Cardington

o   Summer camp

o   Nene White water  trips (usually on Thursday evenings)

o   Committee meetings.

There will be Sunday paddles on local rivers but these will be planned the week before when people know what they are doing, so watch the website.
There may also be groups going to Nene White water centre at Northampton on Sunday afternoons so again watch the website and Facebook.
The pool is on every Friday evening, book via Facebook for the moment.
 

As you can see there is a lot going on. The more people that get involved the better it is for everyone.
