‘I don’t know if she’ll fight again’: Hearn uncertain of Taylor’s future
Eddie Hearn doesn’t really think there’s much left for Katie Taylor to do in the sport.
Shortly after her third win over Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor met up with Matchroom promoted Eddie Hearn to discuss some things and while there’s no definitive plans at this time, Hearn mentions that he thinks Taylor’s career may have come to a close.
“I don’t know, maybe that’s it, you know,” Hearn said about Taylor. “I don’t know if she’ll fight again. Before last night it was like ‘what a great way it would be for her to go out.’ We didn’t discuss her retiring today but I don’t know, what else is there?
“At what stage is enough, enough? And what a way to bow out with a victory like that. But, listen, we’ll see.
“I’m taking it off her comments from the press conference, which was ‘I haven’t decide if I’ll fight again.’ I was like ‘whoa, she’s never said anything like that before.’ Not had any conversations about retiring, not having any conversations about any other fights, but when she says something like that you know it’s in consideration.”
At age 39 and with the accolades Taylor has, nobody would judge her harshly if she decided now’s the time to leave boxing, but for now no official decision has been made on her future.
