Canelo vs Crawford is official for September 12 | DAZN

Canelo Alvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford are officially set for September.

Canelo Alvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford went face-to-face in the ring in Riyadh tonight, making official their expected fight for September 12 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The announcement came directly after Canelo defeated William Scull to once again become the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world.

Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KO) didn’t thrill anyone with his fight tonight, but much of that can be put on Scull (23-1, 9 KO), who did his best to avoid any action whatsoever.

Crawford (41-0, 31 KO) is coming up from 154 lbs to face Canelo at 168, and has only had one fight in his career over 147 lbs. Crawford has won world titles at lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight, and super welterweight. He has been undisputed champion at 140 and 147.

By the time the fight rolls around, Crawford will have not fought in over 13 months. He was last in action beating Israil Madrimov in August 2024, which was one of the closest fights of his career.

Canelo has never lost a fight at super middleweight, improving to 11-0 at the weight with tonight’s win over Scull.
