Canelo and Scull on weight, fight official for Saturday
Canelo and William Scull have made weight in Riyadh for Saturday’s fight.
Canelo Alvarez and William Scull are officially set for Saturday night, with the pair making weight for their undisputed super middleweight championship main event in Riyadh coming on Saturday.
Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KO) weighed in at 167.1 lbs, with Scull (23-0, 9 KO) at 166.1, both comfortably under the 168 lb limit.
Canelo will be looking to become a two-time undisputed champ at 168, and obviously Scull is aiming to shock the sports world and do it for the first time.
Scull is defending the IBF title that Canelo vacated last year, with Canelo bringing the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles to the fight.
The event’s “ceremonial” weigh-in will be held later today, but these weights are official and set.
The WBC cruiserweight title clash between Badou Jack and Norair Mikaeljan is also set, with Jack at the 200 lb limit and Mikaeljan at 198 lbs.
Jaime Munguia and Bruno Surace both weighed in at 167.7 lbs for their super middleweight rematch.
Marco Verde, making his pro debut, came in at 158.7, with opponent Michel Polina at 159.8, both set for their middleweight bout.
