Katie Taylor knows she can’t fight forever but still has that burning desire as she prepares to face Amanda Serrano once more.

Katie Taylor will be 39-years-old by the time she takes on Amanda Serrano for the third time this summer. Looking towards that fight Taylor tells Sky Sports that while she acknowledges that she can’t fight forever, nor does she even want to, she still has a compelling passion to compete and lift women’s boxing and is bringing that desire into her upcoming trilogy match.

“The fire hasn’t died down. I have this desire in my heart to just bring women’s boxing up again. I know that I have what it takes to perform well. I know that I have it all and feel like I am getting better and better with each performance so I can’t wait to step in there.”

Taylor is already 2-0 against Serrano in what have been some really good fights, and is hoping to put an “exclamation point” on her professional rivalry with Serrano by making it 3-0. To that end Taylor insists that she’s more motivated than she’s ever been.

Physically, Taylor adds that she’s still feeling great at her age as she lauds the longevity of fighters such as Floyd Mayweather and Bernard Hopkins, while also saying her team’s smart approach to training has allowed her to maintain her physical condition.

Should Taylor put on the performance she’s expecting to have she’ll notch her 25th professional win this July as she enters the twilight of her fighting career.
