Tim Tszyu says he knows he has a lot to prove to the world in upcoming fight with Joey Spencer.

As Tim Tszyu looks to rebound in his April 6 fight against Joey Spencer, he talks to media reporters about his preparation for the fight as he comes back from an early knockout loss in his last appearance.

“This is the most important fight of my life,” Tszyu said. “There’s so much on the line, so much to look forward to. It’s always the next fight, of course, that makes it the most important but this one feels a bit different.

“I think the last result was — looking back at it — it was a little mistake made. If it went six, seven, even eight rounds further who knows what would’ve happened. For me it’s just about not making that mistake and boxing, the game’s full of inches and it’s minimizing those inches and getting up on top.

“It’s been good being at home down at the Rockdale gym, and having a lot of familiar faces coming in for sparring, we’ve put in good work. Australia, we’ve got plenty of talent here and it’s been good sparring with up-and-comers and boxers from around Australia — not just New Wales, but Australia.”

When asked about what went wrong in his last fight and why he fought as a self-described “cockhead,” Tsyzu took a quick moment to think about the answer.

“‘Cause I think I could’ve taken him out in two rounds,” Tszyu replied. “That’s what was going through my head ‘this guy wasn’t going past two rounds. And I came in with that intensity where a professional fight isn’t two rounds, it’s a 12 round fight and I’ve just got to be smarter.

“Every fight is the most important one but I’ve got so much to prove. I know what I bring, I know what I possess, and it’s just about showing it and letting the world know that we never left.”
