Martin Bakole has been offered another big opportunity this spring despite getting stopped by Joseph Parker over the weekend.

Martin Bakole rolled the dice to step in as a late replacement opponent for Joseph Parker over the weekend, but things didn’t exactly go his way as he was quickly stopped by Parker in under two rounds. Bakole’s promoter Ben Shalom tells Sky Sports that Bakole still deserves credit for taking the risk he did with only two days notice.

“Martin wanted to take a big opportunity to save the show. It was always a massive risk, and I don’t know any other fighter on the planet who would have done that. But he wanted the fight on the assurance of him fighting in a big fight in May with notice.”

Shalom would continue by saying that he still regards Bakole as one of the most dangerous heavyweights in the world and they expect that to be on full display once Bakole returns with the benefit of a training camp.

Bakole has previously been lined up to take on Efe Ajagba in an IBF eliminator bout but at this time it’s unknown how the sanctioning body will look at that situation given what just transpired. Either way, Bakole will be looking to come back soon and attempt to regain some traction as a world title contender.
