‘It’s a horrible fight’: Romero doesn’t want to see Shakur fight Tank

Rolando Romero suggests Shakur Stevenson would run all fight long if he were ever to face Gervonta Davis.

While Shakur Stevenson hopes to make a fight against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, not everyone is exactly a fan of what that fight would look like. Here, Rolando Romero talks to Fight Hype about why he’s not all that thrilled about the idea of a Tank vs Shakur fight at the moment.

“Who is a bigger puncher, Edwin De Los Santos or Gervonta Davis? Who’s a bigger puncher?” Romero said, alluding to Tank. “Okay, and Shakur jumped around the ring like a grasshopper with De Los Santos, do you think that’s going to happen again with Gervonta?...He might jump out the ring.

“If he pussed out with De Los Santos, you think he’s not going to puss out even more with Gervonta, an explosive puncher, with Shakur’s frail ass hands who can’t even crack an egg?

“It’s a horrible fight. If I was Gervonta Davis I wouldn’t even waste my time with him until Shakur gets a f-ckin’ knockout...If I could see Shakur stop two people, like actually hurt them, maybe he might be an entertaining fight at that point. But right now he’s just going to jump around the ring.

“Shakur’s goal isn’t to hurt you, it’s just to touch you. He likes to touch men. He likes to just touch men over and over and over again. Boxing is something intimate for him...there’s no hurt in his heart. He doesn’t like to hurt men, he just likes to touch them.

“I will give him this, though. Whenever he fights it’s a masterpiece...he’s one of the greatest technical fighters, especially of this generation. But he doesn’t even try to knock people out, because at least Devin Haney will try, will try his hardest to knock somebody out. Shakur doesn’t even try.”
