TALISAY CITY, CEBU,PHILIPPINES – Joperson Trazo (5-0, 1KO) kept his unblemished record when dominated Marlon Alejandro (6-6-1, 1KO) in the main eight round bout Tuesday at the Barangay Lagtang Gymnasium in Talisay City.
Alejandro was sent to the canvas in rounds three and six and spent most of the bout with a swelling on his left cheek. The taller Trazo used his length effectively but Alejandro remained game and continued to fire despite the obvious beat down. Trazo was awarded the Philippine Boxing Federation belt for his effort. The scores – Tony Pesons and Rolando Mendoza scoring 80-70 and Arnel Pasion had it 78-72.
Dave Peñalosa (18-1, 12 KOs) returned from an almost two year absence to beat Vicente Casido (6-6-1, 2 KO’s) by unanimous decision in a six rounder.
The 34 year old Peñalosa, a former WBO Oriental featherweight titleholder, showed obvious signs of ring rust but did enough to win by scores of 59-55 on the cards of judges Mendoza, Pasion and Nic Banal.
Peñalosa , the son of former two-division world champion Dodie Boy Peñalosa, was also inactive from 2020 to 2022. He was the more accurate fighter, and his opponent Casido also took a more defensive stance throughout the bout.
Rounding up the card, Jefre Jimenez (4-0, 2 KO’s) and Vicente Unidos (3-0, 2 KO’s) also kept their unbeaten records. Jimenez won by TKO against Cerwin Genosas (2-4, 2KO’s) in the second round. Genosas was knocked down in the second, managed to beat the count, but received another barrage of punches prompting the stoppage. Unidos decked Venjie Patac (2-11-1,1KO) twice and stopped him also in the second round.
There were amateur bouts prior to the professional contests. This card was presented by Cebu boxing patron Lorenzo “Chao” Sy of Chao Sy Boxing Promotions.
