Pat Mahomes Sr. Boxing Another Ex-MLB Star, Dave Portnoy Announces
Former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, the father of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, got into quite an argument with fellow ex-pitcher John Rocker over the Super Bowl weekend. Now, the two retired baseball players will be duking it out for real in the boxing ring thanks to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.
On Feb. 12, Portnoy announced that Mahomes Sr. and Rocker have signed contracts to fight at Barstool's Rough 'N' Rowdy brawl. He referenced the now-viral clip of the two former baseball stars getting into a heated exchange on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
"I guess they f--king hated each other since their playing days," Portnoy said in a video posted on X. "I mean, I guess not surprising. Everyone has beef with John Rocker."
"But they signed the f--king paperwork," he continued, noting that "This is real bad blood" between them.

Portnoy also took a moment to address Mahomes' three-time Super Bowl MVP son, who has in the past said he's not a fan of Barstool in general.
"Well, now your dad's fighting in our company against John Rocker. So I'll save a seat, free of charge," Portnoy offered. "Patty Mahomes and crew, no bad blood, we can make up [and] watch your dad fight. That's an open invite."
It’s official. The paperwork was signed today. Pat Mahomes Sr vs John Rocker at Rough N Rowdy. April 19th. Real bad blood. @roughnrowdy https://t.co/Ax3r40WBwa pic.twitter.com/abVsaD5oGE

As for the idea that Barstool staged the fight between the two former MLB pitchers to tease the match announcement, Portnoy shut it down and brushed off the claim as preposterous. "It's honestly insane to insinuate that we would stage a fight on Bourbon Street to promote a fight that was announced a couple days later," he said.
