Earlier today BMB Boxing Gym hosted a show in Kyoto, which didn’t exactly go as planned, though fans did get a rather notable surprise for the show.
The card was scheduled for 9 bouts, with 8 of them being 4 rounders, and the main event being scheduled for 8 rounds. Sadly two of those bouts were cancelled, with the most notable being the scheduled main event was actually cancelled at short notice, as Riku Yamashita (7-2-1, 3) [山下陸] was forced to pull out of his scheduled bout with JBC ranked Bantamweight hopeful Yamato Moriguchi (8-0-1, 3) [森口山都].
The promoter for the show did however find something for Moriguchi to do on the event, and gave the fan a bit of a surprise after the final bout, as the 21 year old Moriguchi ended up taking part in a 4 round exhibition with the promoters son, WBC Flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji (24-1, 15) [寺地 拳四朗]. Kenshiro, the son of Hisashi Teraji toe head of the BMB Boxing Gym, is currently preparing for his March 13th bout with WBA champion Seigo Yuri Akui (21-2-1, 11) [阿久井政悟] , and his preparation so far seems to have been solid with Kenshiro look sharp, crips and in great shape throughout the exhibition. To his credit Moriguchi didn’t wilt either, putting on a real show for the fans, as he tried to do what he could to go toe to toe with the champion, in a finish to the show that had fans loudly applauding the two men.
Afterward Kenshiro took the microphone and stated "Moriguchi has a different style (from Akui), so today I deliberately closed the distance and fought him to make it more entertaining. His movements were stiff, but he was able to do it under good tension. I'm glad the excitement was there. I'll take the WBA belt and come back here with two belts!"
Moriguchi, who missed out on the main event fight for the show, seemed in great spirits and really happy to have had the chance to share the ring with Kenshiro, explaining "I'm grateful for this opportunity. Kenshiro is really strong, and it was a great experience for me. I'll continue to hone my strength."
