Golden Boy has signed four names to deals, including Olympian Joshua Edwards.
Golden Boy has announced four multi-year signings in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.
The promotional company has signed cruiserweights Tristan Kalkreuth and Robin Safar, as well as heavyweights Federico Pacheco Jr and Joshua Edwards, the latter of whom represented Team USA at the Paris Olympics.
“The heavyweight division hasn’t been this hot in decades,” said Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya. “Every single one of these prospects has the potential to become a world champion in the heavier divisions. Nobody builds champions better than Golden Boy, and I’m extremely excited to get into the mix of the heavyweight division.”
- Kalkreuth, 23, is 14-1 (10 KO) as a pro and you’ve surely seen him on Golden Boy undercards already. He did suffer a loss to veteran Demetrius Banks in 2021, but has won six straight since then.
- Safar, 32, was born in Sweden and is now based in the U.S., and has been inactive since a win over a badly faded Sergey Kovalev last May. But that win means Safar (17-0, 12 KO) is world-ranked and could find himself in a title fight soon enough.
- Pacheco, 21, is the younger brother of super middleweight contender Diego Pacheco, and turned pro in Oct. 2022, going 7-0 (5 KO) thus far.
- Edwards, 24, won gold at the 2023 Pan American Games, but was eliminated in his opening bout in Paris, losing clearly to Italy’s Diego Lenzi. But we’ve seen American Olympians the last few cycles who didn’t fare well in the Olympics turn around to have very nice pro careers, so he’s a signing to watch.
