Fighters make weight for Korakuen Hall double header

0 6
Tomorrow at Korakuen Hall fight fans will be getting a very good title double header under the WHO'S NEXT DYNAMIC GLOVE on U-NEXT, banner with a regional title fight, featuring a wonderfully exciting Super Bantamweight hopefully, and a domestic title fight, featuring one of the fastest rising Minimumweights on the planet.

Today, ahead of those two bouts, the fighters involved took part in their weigh in.

The regional title bout will see Subaru Murata (8-0, 8) [村田昴] make his first defense of the WBO Asia Pacific Super Bantamweight title as he takes on Filipino challenger Joseph Ambo (14-4-1, 9), who drops down in weight having fought for the WBO Asia Pacific Featherweight title last year. On the scales Murata was 121.8lbs, comfortably under the limit, whilst Ambo was closer to the Bantamweight limit, coming in at 119.3lbs, well under the limit.

Murata, who won the title in October when he stopped Kaito Yamasaki in the 9th round of a thrilling contest, came across as incredibly confident, telling reporters "I can't lose here. I should win, but the question is how I win. I'll show you how I can knock him out without getting hit,". Ambo on the other hand seemed quiet, yet confident, for a bout that he has really ripped himself into great shape for.

The other bout for this show will see Japanese Minimumweight champion Ryusei Matsumoto (4-0, 2) [松本流星] make his first defense, as he takes on Masatora Okada (9-5-1, 3) [岡田将人] in a Champion Carnival bout. Matsumoto, who won the title in a brilliant performance last year against Katsuki Mori, was 104.7lbs and looked in great shape, whilst oozing confidence, Okada was also 104.7lbs.

Matsumoto stated "Takada  (Yuni Takada, the WBO Asia Pacific champion) has taken a step up in this weight class, but I will show my performance tomorrow so that I can also take his place. The fighters who have won the world championship win carefully and surely. My biggest enemy is myself. If I can beat myself, I can naturally beat Okada,". He also explained that he had been having high level training for this bout. As for Okada, who has dyed his hair yellow for the bout, he explained "Ideally I'd be the only one to land a punch, but that won't happen. I'm prepared for it to be a tough fight. I've spent every day preparing for this day. Tomorrow I'll be able to find out the answer. I'm looking forward to the match”.
