UFC Fight Night 250 loses main card fight over passport issues

0 7

UFC Fight Night 250 is down one main card fight.

According to UFC middleweight Andre Muniz, his fight vs. Ikram Aliskerov was canceled Saturday and is expected to be rebooked for a later date.

The bout was initially scheduled to take place Feb. 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, Muniz (24-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC) said in an Instagram story Saturday there was an unforeseen issue with his passport and he could not travel there.

“Unfortunately, neither I nor my team, nor the UFC, knew about this in time to let us know, and I haven’t been able to go through the entire process to get this document yet,” Muniz said in Portuguese. “The UFC thought it would be better to reschedule my fight with the same opponent, but it took another date. I’m waiting for you to set the date right away, and that’s it.”

He did not reveal when the bout vs. Aliskerov (15-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will be scheduled for exactly. Whenever they do meet, both men will look to build some momentum. Muniz is coming off a win over Jun Yong Park. However, the bout took place in December 2023 and he has not competed since. Aliskerov looks to bounce back from his first UFC loss, a main event defeat to Robert Whittaker in June.

With the cancellation, the UFC Fight Night 250 lineup includes:

    • Israel Adesanya vs. Nassourdine Imavov
    • Shara Magomedov vs. Michael Page
    • Sergei Pavlovich vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik
