Arturo Cardenas Enjoys Quick Turnaround, Will Face Jesus Arechiga On Aug. 31 in Carson, California
Arturo Cardenas gets to enjoy a quick turnaround.
The unbeaten junior featherweight will return to the ring on August 31, trainer Robert Garcia confirmed to The Ring Sunday night. Cardenas will face Jesus Arechiga in a scheduled 10-round bout at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Their clash will serve in supporting capacity to the Diego Pacheco-Maciej Sulecki DAZN headliner.
“I’m very happy to have Arturo on a great card here in (the Los Angeles area),” Garcia told The Ring Sunday night. “Arturo is a very talented fighter and always puts up great fights.”
Cardenas (14-0-1, 8 knockouts), who resides in Sahuayo de Morelos, Mexico, is coming off a majority decision victory over Danny Barrios on June 29. The clash between unbeaten prospects took place on the Jesse Rodriguez-Juan Francisco Estrada undercard.
The bout marks the fourth straight appearance on a Matchroom undercard for the 24-year-old Cardenas.
“Thanks to Matchroom for keeping him busy,” stated Garcia. “Los Angeles will enjoy a great fight.”
Cardenas made his debut under the Matchroom Boxing banner on December 16, stopping Carlos Mujica in the fourth round. Exactly two months later, he claimed a hard-fought unanimous decision over Ernesto Garcia Flores in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Arechiga (21-1, 15 KOs) suffered the first loss of his pro career in his last bout on March 9. The Mazatlan, Mexico native lost to Jose Israel Ramirez by unanimous decision.
In his previous bout on October 20, Arechiga, 24, stopped Jose Alvarado Morales in the opening round.
