Sebastian Fundora and Errol Spence Jr are expected to meet in the fall.

Sebastian Fundora and Errol Spence Jr have a deal in place for a fight in October, according to ESPN.com’s Mike Coppinger.

The fight — which would take place in the Dallas area, possibly at AT&T Stadium if a date is available — would see Fundora defend the WBC and WBO super welterweight titles against Spence, a former welterweight titleholder.

Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KO) took the WBO belt from Tim Tszyu and grabbed the vacant WBC strap in the process on Mar. 30 in Las Vegas, winning a split decision over 12 bloody rounds, a fight that Fundora was not meant to be in. He had replaced the injured Keith Thurman in the PBC pay-per-view main event. Fundora was originally set to face Serhii Bohachuk on the undercard.

Spence (28-1, 22 KO) hasn’t fought since an absolute thrashing at the hands of Terence “Bud” Crawford in July 2023, which was just his second fight since 2020. The 34-year-old has recently become entangled in a dispute with now-former trainer Derrick James regarding alleged owed monies to James. Spence has also had a little social media beef with Ryan Garcia, who is trained by James, but obviously nothing is coming of that.

Spence was named as a likely Fundora opponent right after the fight in March, and it seems that is the way we’re headed. The 34-year-old Spence has a lot of question marks about his overall health and boxing future, while the 26-year-old Fundora is coming in off of easily his biggest win as a pro.
