Report: Renato Moicano to fight Jai Herbert at UFC’s June 26th card

Lightweights Renato Moicano and Jai Herbert are reportedly set to face each other at UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Volkov.

Lightweight Renato Moicano has his first challenge of 2021 booked, and it’s against a former Cage Warriors champion. According to Combate’s report, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black,belt is now set to take on knockout artist Jai Herbert at UFC Fight Night 191, in a classic striker vs. grappler pairing.

In his last outing, Renato Moicano (14-4-1) was knocked out by Rafael Fiziev, back in December 2020. The defeat put the 31-year-old in a difficult spot, having lost three of his last four outings, with knockout losses to both Jose Aldo and Chan Sung Jung alongside his most recent one. The Brazilian’s sole win during this time happened in March 2020, when he tapped out Damir Hadzovic in his return to the lightweight division.

Still looking for his first Octagon win, Jai Herbert (10-2) did not have the UFC debut he expected back in July 2020, losing via TKO to veteran lightweight Francisco Trinaldo. Before the defeat, however, the 32-year-old was on a six-fight winning streak in Cage Warriors, five of which came by way of knockout.

Now, Renato Moicano is expected to take on Jai Herbert at UFC Fight Night 191, on June 26, in a location yet to be determined. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a heavyweight bout between top contenders Cyril Gane and Alexander Volkov.
