Taylor wants Serrano, Braekhus, and Persoon in next three fights

Taylor says she’s look towards fights against Amdan errano, Cecilia Braekhus, and Delfine Persoon.

Katie Taylor says she’s not shying away from the big fights we’d love to see her in. In fact, Taylor says she’s specifically seeking out fights against some of the biggest names in women’s boxing so that she can seal her legacy by the time her career is over. As things currently stand, Taylor will be taking on Amanda Serrano behind closed doors on the same evening that Dillian Whyte faces Alexander Povetkin sometime this summer.

Taylor, who insists she wants to be in the best fights possible, points to the likes of Muhammad Ali who is largely a legend because of all the other legends he fought over his career.

“Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Ken Norton. These are legendary fights and these guys go down as legends of the sport. That’s the sort of legacy I want to leave. I’m fighting Serrano next, there has been talk of me fighting Braekhus, and the Persoon rematch is very important. I’d be happy to fight those three next.”

Taylor says with each of these fighters still in their respective primes, now is the perfect time for them to square-off, making for the best fights possible. Taylor, of course, knows Serrano and Braekhus are big names, but also wants to put any Persoon controversy to bed as a lot of people had her beating Taylor when they met (including two of us here at BLH).

“The next time I fight her I’ll put on a better performance. It was a particularly bad performance that night but I dug deep and got the win in a close fight. It could have gone the other way but I’m grateful it went my way.”

But before Taylor gets to any of that, she’ll first have to deal with Serrano who should prove to be quite the handful for Taylor. Serrano has been on an absolute tear and has won world titles in a record setting seven divisions. So in that respect Taylor is going to get exactly what she’s asking for, let’s just see if she wants everything she’s gonna get.
