Stevenson gets another July 13th opponent in Guevara
Guevara is Stevenson’s third scheduled opponent for the date
Two-time bantamweight title challenger Alberto Guevara has stepped in for Franklin Manzanilla, who himself stepped in for Hairon Socarras, against Shakur Stevenson in Newark on July 13th.
Eight days before his homecoming, @ShakurStevenson has a new opponent: two-time world title challenger Alberto “Metro” Guevara. The two will face off in the 10-round main event.#StevensonGuevara | JULY 13

Guevara (27-4, 12 KO) is easily the least interesting of the three, lacking Socarras’ unbeaten record or Manzanilla’s powerful roughhousing. He’s beaten nobody of note, but in his defense, he’s only ever lost to really solid fighters. He dropped a decision to Leo Santa Cruz in 2012, got beaten into submission by Shinsuke Yamanaka and “God’s Left” a year later, lost to a pre-title Emmanuel Rodriguez in 2016, and most recently fell to Hugo Ruiz in January. Ruiz was sufficiently unscathed after 10 rounds to fight Gervonta Davis three weeks later.
The co-feature between Joshua Greer Jr. and Nikolai Potapov will join the main event on ESPN. The ESPN+ undercard remains ostensibly vacant just eight days before showtime, though I assume an announcement is coming sooner rather than later.
