Ben Askren mocks Dillon Danis’ training preparation with Conor McGregor for UFC 229.

In the lead-up to UFC 229, SBG Ireland’s Dillon Danis boldly stated that teammate Conor McGregor could beat Khabib Nurmagomedov in a pure grappling match.

Just one month later, ‘The Eagle’ submitted ‘The Notorious’ with a neck crank in the fourth round of the UFC 229 main event to retain his lightweight title and cement himself as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

On Tuesday, Danis posted a contemplative Tweet regarding expectation and preparation, which elicited a sharp response from Ben Askren.

‘Funky’ suggested that Danis’ inadequate coaching was to blame for McGregor’s loss to Khabib at UFC 229.

McGregor was recently fined $50,000 and suspended for six-months following his post-fight brawl with Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) fined Nurmagomedov a whopping $500,000 and suspended the Dagestani for nine months for instigating the brawl.

Askren, who signed with the UFC last October, will make his long-awaited Octagon debut against Robbie Lawler at UFC 235. The pay-per-view extravaganza takes place next month, March 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
