UFC 232 fight night weights: Only four eclipse CSAC’s 10% mark

0 11

Check out the fight night weights data from last Saturday’s UFC 232 card in California.

If there was a silver lining to moving UFC 232 from Nevada to California, it’s the fact that we’re able to get the fight night weights data from the California State Athletic Commission.

You may recall that at UFC 227 last August, 18 of 24 fighters gained more than 10% of their body weight from weigh-in day to fight day. Under the CSAC’s comprehensive weight cutting guidelines, they have the authority to recommend fighters move up a division when they exceed the 10% limit.

How did UFC 232 fare amid all the fight week craziness and last-minute switch of venue? Consider it marked improvement, as the only fighters who went beyond 10% are Cris Cyborg, Douglas Silva de Andrade, Alex Volkanovski, and Montel Jackson (who missed weight on Friday).

Cyborg weighed 144 lbs on Friday, then went up to 160.5 lbs, only 4.5 lbs more than the woman who knocked her out in 51 seconds, Amanda Nunes, who did have prior experience at featherweight.

Here’s the full list of fight night weights, via MMA Fighting:
