UFC veteran Ryan Jimmo killed after a hit and run attack — news and updates

Former UFC fighter Ryan Jimmo was killed in a hit and run incident in June, 2016.

Ryan Jimmo aka ‘The Big Deal’ held a 19-5 pro MMA record. He was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, but was primarily based in Edmonton, Alberta.

After beating Marvin Eastman, Emanuel Newton, Zak Cummings, and Reameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the Western Canada based promotion Maximum Fighting Championships, Jimmo joined the UFC in 2012.

His debut UFC fight was against Anthony Perosh, who he beat by KO in seven seconds. After beating Perosh Jimmo fought six more times in the UFC, defeating Igor Pokrajec and Sean O’Connell. He last fought at UFC Fight Night 67 in 2015.

Jimmo was killed on June 26th, 2016 after being struck by a car in the parking lot outside of H20 Lounge in Edmonton. He was 34 years old and he had recently proposed to his girlfriend.

Two men, Anthony Getschel and Jordan Wagner, were arrested for the murder. In 2018 Getschel plead guilty ot manslaughter and received an eight year sentence.
