Jon Jones responds to Daniel Cormier: ‘Come get me baby’

Jon Jones is up for a trilogy fight with Daniel Cormier, if that’s what ‘DC’ really wants.

Jon Jones might be suspended after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, but Daniel Cormier is still interested in a trilogy bout with the former UFC light heavyweight champion.

“I want to fight Jon Jones. I do. I still feel I can win,” Cormier said in a media scrum on Friday. “I know that I’ve lost twice, and the last fight, I got kicked in the head. But I feel like we were having a good fight. And I feel like every fight’s been good. And I feel like if we fought a third time it would be even better.”

Cormier, a former Olympic wrestler, dropped a unanimous decision to Jones in 2015 and lost in the mega-hyped championship rematch at UFC 214 last year, suffering the first knockout loss of his career after buckling to a head kick and follow-up punches in the third round.

However, the result was overturned to a No Contest after it was revealed that ‘Bones’ tested positive for Turinabol (anabolic steroid) and ‘DC’ was reinstated as the official light heavyweight champion in September.

Jones, who was stripped of the title and removed from the UFC rankings in the wake of his second failed drug test (Jones was previously suspended one year by the United States Anti-Doping Agency after testing positive for clomiphene and letrozole prior to UFC 200), responded to Cormier’s recent comments and taunted the reigning champ on Twitter.

The controversial star insists that he has never knowingly taken PEDs throughout his career but, after his most recent fiasco, could face a 4-year USADA suspension.

Cormier, who has said that he will always want to avenge his loss to Jones, is gearing up for a heavyweight superfight with Stipe Miocic at UFC 226. The highly anticipated pay-per-view takes place later this year, July 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
