Godofredo Pepey won’t be re-signed by UFC

Following his third loss in four fights, Godofredo Pepey is no longer under UFC contract.

After eleven fights inside the Octagon, Godofredo Pepey’s time in the UFC has come to an end.

MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz reported that Pepey’s contract expired following his fight with Mirsad Bektic, and the UFC will not re-sign the featherweight.

Pepey (13-6) lost in the final of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil season 1 to Rony Jason back in 2012, and had a bit of a rough start to his UFC career. After edging out Milton Vieira, Pepey wound up getting knocked out in guard by Felipe Arantes and Sam Sicilia in consecutive fights. The 30-year-old would rattle off three straight wins, including a memorably flying knee KO of Noad Lahat, as well as a flying triangle choke finish of Andre FIli.

The downslide for Pepey started with a decision loss to Darren Elkins in July 2016. Following a quick submission of Mike de la Torre, Pepey was bested on the feet by Shane Burgos in July 2017, then crushed by a Mirsad Bektic body shot this past January.

Pepey leaves the promotion with a UFC record of 5-6, and certainly his fair share of entertaining fights, win or lose.
