Miguel Berchelt injured, Francisco Vargas vs. Orlando Salido rematch possible

0

Vargas has not fought since losing to Berchelt in January

I’ve got bad news and good news.

The bad news is that WBC Super Featherweight Champion Miguel Berchelt has reportedly re-injured the hand he damaged in his title defense against Takashi Miura, forcing him to withdraw from his planned December bout with Orlando Salido. The good news is that Team Salido, pending approval from the WBC, is looking to put together a rematch between “Siri” and Francisco Vargas.

I’m hoping some sort of title is involved, if only so we get twelve rounds instead of ten.

Vargas (23-1-2, 17 KO) and Salido (44-13-4, 31 KO) blew the roof off the StubHub Center in Vargas’ first title defense, trading inhuman punishment before the judges called it a draw. Vargas went on to lose his title to Berchelt in January, while Salido beat down designated victim Aristedes Perez in Mexico in May.

As annoying as it is to lose Berchelt, Vargas and Salido are built to deliver brilliance. Here’s hoping neither one’s got too much wear for another war.
