Sor Rungvisai-Estrada targeted for Feb. 24

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will be making his mandatory title defense against Juan Francisco Estrada.

WBC super flyweight world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (44-4-1, 40 KOs) has been tentatively scheduled to take on mandatory challenger Juan Francisco Estrada (36-2, 25 KOs) on February 24, 2018, according to a WBC post on WBN. The venue has yet to be determined but the bout is expected to be held in California.

Sor Rungvisai is most recently coming off a dominant performance against former pound-for-pound king Roman Gonzalez in September, following a close but debatable win over Gonzalez in March where he initially took the world title.

Meanwhile Estrada, who edged out Carlos Cuadras on the undercard of Sor Rungvisai-Gonzalez II to become the mandatory challenger, will look to continue his hot streak over the past few years. He’s won 10 straight since dropping a decision to Gonzalez back in late 2012.

There’s little to be said about this fight other than that it’s an obvious and good match-up to make at super flyweight. It should also be plenty fan-friendly too, given the styles of both fighters.

Let the good times roll...
