Yoel Romero continues onslaught against Michael Bisping, trashes British flag in Cuba

0

Yoel Romero is desperate to get his hands on Michael Bisping.

Michael Bisping might be defending his UFC middleweight title against newly-crowned interim champion Robert Whittaker, but Yoel Romero is campaigning hard for a grudge match with the Brit.

Romero and Bisping have gone back-and-forth on social media and in interviews for the better part of a year, but tensions escalated when ‘The Count’ ripped up the Cuban flag and threw it at Romero’s corner during ‘Soldier of God’s’ fight with Whittaker at UFC 213.

Romero lost that interim championship bout via decision, losing out on the chance to challenge Bisping for the official belt in the fall.

However, that hasn’t stopped the Olympic silver medalist from calling out ‘The Count’ on Twitter. Romero, 40, burned a picture of the British flag last week and uploaded the video to social media, calling out Bisping in the process.

Earlier today the top-ranked middleweight contender took another shot at Bisping, stamping on the British flag in his home country of Cuba and warning the current champ to never disrespect him again.

Bisping is slated to face Whittaker in the fall and, depending on the outcome, could face Romero early next year. In the meantime, Romero will have to take another fight to reestablish himself as the No. 1 contender.
