World Boxing imposes mandatory gender tests for all athletes

0 1

Algerian Olympic boxing champion Imane Khelif has been barred from competition by World Boxing, following the federation’s introduction of mandatory gender testing for all athletes.

World Boxing announced the policy on Friday, stating that no boxer may participate in its events without undergoing and passing a genetic sex verification test in accordance with its rules. The first high-profile consequence of the policy is the exclusion of Khelif from next week’s Eindhoven Box Cup in the Netherlands.
