[Softball] Davenport Ends Season at Softball World Series

CLERMONT, Fla. - (bracket) - Davenport battled back after dropping its first game of the 2017 NAIA Softball World Series to win its next two games in the double elimination bracket at Legends Way Ballfields before bowing out of the tournament. The fourth-seeded Panthers opened play with a 4-0 loss to No. 5 LSU Alexandria to put the Panthers one loss away from elimination. The Panthers then defeated No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan 3-2 to stay alive and then defeated No. 10 Ottawa (Kan.) 4-0 to force another match up with LSU Alexandria. The result was the same as DU dropped the game 2-0 and was eliminated from the tournament with a 2-2 World Series record. The loss closed out Davenport's time in the NAIA as the Panthers move to NCAA Division II next season.
