Paul Pierce compares Kevin Durant joining Warriors to making friends with bullies

0

Kevin Durant’s going to the finals with the team that used to beat OKC.

Paul Pierce had an interesting take on ESPN’s The Jump in front of the NBA finals. Before we jump in, here’s a gentle reminder that Kevin Durant has been with the Warriors for only one season and he already gets to go to the finals.

That’s basically what Pierce is getting at in this interview session:

I’m not a guy who goes into the neighborhood, gets beat up the bully’s gang, and then now I want to join their gang. [That’s] just not me; I wanna fight, let’s go! I mean I’m gonna stand up for myself, that’s just the competitive nature of where I come from, the era I grew up in.

Pierce is basically saying Kevin Durant was tired of getting beat up on with OKC, so he decided to go over to the team doing the beating. Sure, it’s understandable. But there’s another old saying that goes “If you can’t beat them, join them.” Just two different philosophies, I guess.
