NBA Finals 2017: Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant put these idiotic parity complaints to rest
There have been numerous bad takes about the Warriors this season and we’re going to keep hearing them until The Finals give us some actual basketball games to talk about.
With the NBA Finals comes more media attention. And with more media attention comes more recycling of bad takes as everyone attempts to come up with an original story.
One of those bad recycled takes is the idea that a) the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers sweeping through the playoffs is bad for the NBA and it b) represents a lack of parity in the league.
Stephen Curry did a pretty good job of addressing why that’s disrespectful to the work that the Warriors and Cavs have put in to just be great.

But Kevin Durant was not able to contain his inner villain in quite the same way Curry did, basically stating the obvious, as reported by Sam Amick of USA Today: you can’t blame the Warriors (or Cavs) for every other team’s piss poor decision making.
“Like I'm the reason why (expletive) Orlando couldn't make the playoffs for five, six years in a row?” he said. “Am I the reason that Brooklyn gave all their picks to Boston? Like, am I the reason that they're not that good (laughs)? I can't play for every team, so the truth of the matter is I left one team. It's one more team that you probably would've thought would've been a contender. One more team. I couldn't have made the (entire) East better. I couldn't have made everybody (else) in the West better.”
For me, what this comes down to is people’s complete inability to appreciate greatness, as Draymond Green has already stated eloquently (s/o to BornInDaEB for posting the FanShot of the video). In the hot take society that we live in, it’s far easier to tear people down to feel better about yourself than it is to just go out and seek one’s own greatness.
Anyway, as we continue to wait for the 2017 NBA Finals to begin, what are the worst takes out there in your mind? What do you think of what Curry, Durant and Green have said?
