Jason Kidd headlines Cal’s 10-member Hall of Fame Class
Jason Kidd, the electric point guard who elevated the Cal basketball program into national prominence in his two seasons with the Bears, highlights the 10-member Hall of Fame Class of 2017 announced by the school’s athletic department Thursday.
The football program is represented in the Hall of Fame class by defensive back Ken Wiedemann, whose 16 career interceptions from 1967 through ’69 are the school record.
Two men from the golf program, longtime head coach Steve Desimone and Charlie Wi, the first man in school history to be named a first-team All-American (in 1995), are part of the class.
Laurel Korholz (crew), Chris Oeding (water polo), longtime trainer Bob Orr, Tiffany Rochelle (volleyball), Laura Schott (soccer) and Jake Wetzel (crew).
A two-time NBA MVP who now is a consultant for the Warriors, Nash was a freshman point guard on the 1992-93 Santa Clara team that upset second-seeded Arizona in the NCAA Tournament.
