[Men's Basketball] Men Advance to Conference Finals

Some people say it is tough to beat the same team three times in one season. The Warriors had to test that theory Saturday night as they took on Indiana University Northwest for the third time this season. The Warriors had won both previous games, but this game was to decide who was to play for the conference championship. The game was a close one the entire way, but RC was able to sweep the season series as they downed the RedHawks 98-91 and clinch an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament and a chance to play for the A.I.I. Conference Tournament championship tomorrow night.

The Warriors came out red hot and stayed that way the entire game. They shot 51.6% from the floor including connecting on 14 of their 32 three point attempts and going 18-22 from the foul line. Both teams played tough defense, but it was the offense for each team that dominated the high scoring affair.

Justin Nafso poured in 22 points and dished out 5 assists on the night. He was as followed closely by Angelo Griffis and Jaylen Larry who scored 21 and 20 respectively. Cap Wilson hit a few big three point shots on his was to 13 points and Paris Pereira and Armand Cartwright each added 9.

The Warriors will take on the winner of the Washington Adventist/Central Christian game which will be decided later Saturday night. The championship game will take place Sunday evening at 5pm EST.

Earlier in the week, Griffis was named the A.I.I. Conference Player of the Year, and head coach, Klint Pleasant, was named Conference Coach of the Year. Larry was named Second Team All Conference. Congratulations to those three and the entire team.
