[Men's Basketball] Radford Named an All American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2017 Division II Men's Basketball All-America Teams on Thursday. Senior guard Daniel Radford (SR/Bret Harte, CA) represented the Keelhaulers as an Honorable Mention selection.

Radford was selected as an All-American for the first time in his career following his senior season in which he led Cal Maritime to a conference championship.  Radford, who was also selected First Team All-Conference and named Most Valuable Player in the California Pacific Conference, finished his career as the program's career scoring leader.  Daniel led the team and conference by averaging over 19 points per game along with 4.6 rebounds per game.  He also made an impressive 48 three pointers and shot 85% from the free throw line while make 205 free throws on the year.

Daniel will graduate with a degree in International Business and Logistics.

Head Coach Bryan Rooney commented on Radford earning this award, "For anyone who has seen our team the last two years, it has been very apparent how talented a player Daniel is.  However, what often went unseen was the incredible amount of time and effort Daniel put in over the last three years.  He spent countless hours after practice working on his game and it was very special to have the opportunity to witness a true love of the game.  He will be dearly missed but at the same time we truly value the example he has left to our program."
