Iowa transfer Alvaro Folgueiras commits to Louisville
By JAMES MADDEN
Iowa’s Round of 32 hero is headed to play for Pat Kelsey at Louisville, according to reports.
The Cardinals landed a commitment from Alvaro Folgueiras, who sent Iowa into the Sweet Sixteen with a game-sealing three to upset Florida in last month’s NCAA Tournament.
In his one and only season at Iowa, the Spanish forward averaged 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 for head coach Ben McCollum, while serving as one of the team’s most elite defenders.
Prior to transferring to Iowa, Folgueiras played two seasons for Andy Toole at Robert Morris, helping lead the Colonials to the NCAA Tournament in 2025 before losing to Alabama in the first round.
He’s the Cardinals’ fourth addition in the transfer portal and is set to join a stacked transfer portal class.
Louisville’s current class includes Kansas transfer Flory Bidunga, Oregon transfer Jackson Shelstad and Arkansas transfer Karter Knox.
