Pierre Poilievre earns the respect of Canadians for keeping it 'classy' on Joe Rogan podcast
“He won’t attack Canada’s Prime Minister on foreign soil,” Manitoba senator Charles Adler said on X Thursday. “Been looking for a reason to respect Poilievre for a very long time. Mission accomplished.”

Adler’s admiration was shared by many.
“Pierre Poilievre represented Canada well on the Joe Rogan Experience,” internet personality Spencer Fernando said on X. “Kept to his classy rule about not criticizing the Prime Minister on foreign soil, provided important context to soften the perceived harsh edges of policies that have – often unfairly – generated outrage among some in the U.S., and emphasized Canadian unity. Quite well done.”

French Canadian political columnist Chantal Hébert was brief but agreed with Fernando’s observation. “Yep,” she wrote on X.
Poilievre’s appearance comes after the Conservative party leader declined to appear on the podcast last spring. That was the middle of the federal election, when he couldn’t leave the country. His appearance this time reflects a shift in how Canadian politicians can communicate their message, political commentator Scott Robertson said on X.
“I think (former B.C. premier) Christy Clark makes a good point here about how Pierre Poilievre’s appearance on Joe Rogan shows the way political communication is changing,” Robertson said on X while commenting on CTV political panel broadcast.

“I like that Poilievre went on Rogan and didn’t shit on Carney or Canada. That’s how you do it. You don’t do media in another country and run down your home turf or your adversaries. Guy’s learning. Good,” lawyer, political consultant and Postmedia contributor Warren Kinsella said on X.

Considering the interview went on for more than two hours, Conservative MP and the shadow immigration minister, Michelle Rempel Garner says Poilievre “stuck the landing.”
“He took a positive Can/US relations message onto the biggest US pod while asserting Cdn sovereignty. He was engaging and on message over 2+ hrs. Anyone who has done political pods knows this was tough. He stuck the landing. Respect,” she said on X.
I listened to the Pierre/Rogan ep.

Journalist and author, Stephen Maher, noted Poilievre’s clear-eyed explanation of Canada’s parliamentary system, as inherited from the British.
On X, he wrote: “Really enjoying Poilievre explaining the Westminster system to Rogan, who somehow doesn’t seem to know anything about it.”
Also on March 19, he posted: “15 minutes into the Rogan podcast and I think Poilievre is doing well. Wise to avoid Rogan’s antivax bait.”

“Some of the nicest people you ever met,” Rogan responded.
This earned a positive social media reaction from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith: “Joe Rogan is 100% correct: Alberta is a truly amazing place with some incredibly hardworking people! And to my friend @PierrePoilievre’s point— Mr. Rogan, consider this your official invitation to come back to Alberta this summer and visit the greatest outdoor show on earth, the Calgary Stampede.”

Poilievre opened the show by presenting Rogan with a Canadian flag-branded 70-pound kettlebell. Aside from weightier topics, the two men discussed exercise regimes, Canadian maple syrup and even the identity of Justin Trudeau’s true father. Rogan has sometimes perpetuated the long-disproven rumour that the former prime minister is the illegitimate love child of Margaret Trudeau and former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
