Siena’s Gerry McNamara responds to Syracuse rumors
BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ
Syracuse remains on the hunt for a new head coach. One of the biggest names linked to the job is a former player and BIG EAST Tournament Champion.
Siena head coach Gerry McNamara has been linked to the job for the Orange. However, McNamara is focused on the task at hand, leading his team through a run in the Big Dance.
“”With the job being open, it was inevitable,” McNamara said. “I will reiterate again my full focus is on that team in the locker room, there was obviously going to be some speculation.”
The Syracuse job was recently turned down by South Florida head coach Bryan Hodgson, who was also linked to the opening. Adam Zagoria has reported that Hodgson has also received interest from Providence and is still in place for that job.
While his team continues to dance, McNamara will likely continue to stay away from discussing his potential future. But in a tournament where your season could end at a moments notice, it might not be long till the public finds out about McNamara interest in his former team.
