ESPN crew member seen spilling the beans, Kansas’ Peterson allegedly says ‘F— it’
By JAMES MADDEN
LAWRENCE, KS – An ESPN crew member was filmed texting an unknown group at Allen Fieldhouse following the announce of Kansas’ Darryn Peterson being ruled out. Peterson was ruled out with “flu-like symptoms” and missed the Jayhawks’ 82-78 win against No. 1 Arizona.
A fan panned on the crew member’s phone, who was texting about Peterson’s status. The exchange between ESPN’s staff member and the group talked about Peterson’s sickness and the decision to rule him out.
“So he’s sick and he didn’t tell anyone in practice, and Bill (Self) said don’t half ass it if you’re going to play, if not site. (Darryn Peterson) said ‘F— it, I’m out,” the text said.
With the video continuing to circulate online, Kansas Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications Daniel Berk responded to the unverified text messages sent by the crew member.
Kansas, picking up its biggest win of the season, without its best player received an incredible amount of praise from Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd postgame, when he was asked about Peterson’s being ruled out.
“Let’s not make this about Darryn Peterson… they beat the number one team in the country at home tonight, they did a hell of a job and their coach did a hell of a job, that should be the story.”
Peterson has now missed 11 of Kansas’ 24 games this season, with his status for Saturday’s game in Ames against No. 5 Iowa State still uncertain.
