Four-star Cello Jackson stays home, commits to Memphis
By JAMES MADDEN
Four-star forward and Memphis native Cello Jackson announced that he will return home and has committed to Memphis on Saturday. Jackson – a 6-foot-4 wing from Christopher Columbus HS (FL), chose the Tigers over Arkansas State and Murray State.
That’s where I’m from. I’m originally from Memphis, Tennessee. I mean, they play my playstyle. Grit and grind basketball team. Defensive minded,” Jackson told ZAGSBLOG this summer. “Just scoring off transition, off defense. I love that program very much, and I would love to play back home.”
Jackson has one of the most imposing frames in his class, despite his height and is built like a football player, according to many scouts. His calling cards are his physicality and aggressive nature, but has strongly worked to improve his shooting ability and outside scoring.
This summer on the Nike EYBL circuit with Nightrydas Elite, Jackson averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 assists per game.
Jackson will now be headed to the AAC, the same conference as South Florida, where his uncle Marlon Dawson, who is one of his biggest influenced, played college basketball.
He is Penny Hardaway and Memphis’ first commit in the class of 2026.
Jackson is a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 126 overall prospect in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports.
