Knicks expected to create room to keep late off-season acquisitions
BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ
The New York Knicks set out this offseason with the goal of filling out their bench with veteran depth. Now, they could make a deal to secure two key bench pieces for the roster.
The Knicks signed Landry Shamet and Malcolm Brogdon to round out the roster with veteran guard depth. However, their salary cap position would mean the Knicks will have to make a deal to keep both players, a move they are expected to make, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Brogdon and Shamet signed non-guaranteed deals with the Knicks this month. If the Knicks roster stays as is, the two guards will have to play for one remaining spot. Both guards reportedly signed with the team with the expectation of making the final roster.
