Robert Carter Jr. makes the catch of the year on this stunning CFL interception

The NFL has six months to match what Robert Carter Jr. did in the CFL tonight

As a defensive back, Robert Carter Jr. has a certain knack.

A knack for making incredible, one-handed interceptions.

Carter drew national attention for an interception he made during his collegiate days, during his time at Robert Morris University. In a game against Utah State in August of 2024, Carter made this incredible, one-handed interception near the end of the first half:

The interception even made it to “Good Morning America.”

Carter signed with the BC Lions in May of 2025, after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Carter attended attend rookie minicamp with the Baltimore Ravens, but was not signed by the team. He earned a spot with the Lions and was in action Sunday night as the Lions took on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

That’s when Carter did something that might be familiar to Robert Morris fans:

Similar to the play against Utah State, Carter sticks on a receiver running a vertical route and hauls in an incredible, one-handed interception to prevent the big play.

This stunning interception is worth every replay angle:

BC lost the game by a final score of 37-33.

But their rookie defensive back might be back on “Good Morning America” tomorrow morning as a consolation prize.
