Open Thread 2.0: Summer League Cavs vs. Bucks
Good afternoon CtB!
The Cavs take on the Bucks at Cox Pavilion in Sin City as the good guys look to shake off their deja vu performance against the Indiana Pacers losing a close one 116-115 in spite of dominating the game most of the way. On the positive side, the Cavs had two elite performances from Nae’qwan Tomlin and Jaylon Tyson.
Unfortunately it is becoming a repeating pattern under Kenny Atkinson’s offensive system that the hyper aggressive, fast paced offense leads to pitiful defense, especially of the transition kind (and especially against an all gas, no brakes team such as Indiana). Also, the Cavs have displayed too many times a lack of on-court pace control, the inability to switch gears and be versatile depending on game situation. Lastly, Jaylon Tyson’s lack of condition showed up with critical turnovers leading to the lack of pace control. Also it doesn’t speak well of Craig Porter Jr. that cleveland.com’s Terry Pluto reports his lack of conditioning (and he didn’t look in shape during the game) and straight away he pulls his hamstring in the 1st quarter… do you even stretch bro?
Don’t be surprised if Tomlin and Tyson are not for long in Summer League, they look ready to head into training camp to fight for rotation minutes. Tip off is at 3:30PM, Go Cavs!
