Scheyer’s Summer Presser!
Good stuff here from the young Duke coach
Jon Scheyer had an afternoon presser on Tuesday to kind of catch up on where everything is right now. If that link doesn’t work, here’s another.
We haven’t listened to the whole thing yet, but he starts by thanking the local media for their support and then goes on to talk about building the team and getting everyone on the same page.
He also talked a bit about last year’s team and all of the starters being drafted.
One of the striking differences between Jon Scheyer and Mike Krzyzewski is how they deal with the media. There were some local mutterings a few years ago about the Triangle media being ignored in favor of the national media. We haven’t heard that as much lately.
Coach K was so dominant and so accomplished that he didn’t put up with a lot of nonsense from the media (or anyone else). He talked once about how he saw anger as a valuable asset that he could put to good use, and he did that very well.
Scheyer obviously has his own personality and approach and so far his approach is sunnier than Krzyzewski’s. It doesn’t make it better or worse, it’s just different.
Anyway, this is good stuff. Enjoy.
